Homemade Yeast Rolls   Yeast Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 Crisco

1/4 cup warm water

1 pkg. yeast

5 cups of flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon soda

1 teaspoon salt

 

Directions

Heat 2 cups of milk with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup crisco, let cool. Dissolve on pkg. yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and add to milk mixture. Add 3 cups flour to mixture. Mix well and let rise 2 hours in warm place.

Sift 2 cups flour with 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon soda, and 1 teaspoon salt. Add to first mixture. Knead well and place in refrigerator to use as needed. This will keep for several days.

When ready to make rolls, roll out as biscuits, cut and place in pan. Brush tops with butter or margarine and let rise 2 hours. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
